This week’s find of the week, two armchairs designed by Illum Wikkelsø are now on sale on Stockholms Auktionsverk.

The armchair duo presents wooden legs and pale green fabric upholstery. It also includes a neck pillow with leather straps.

Furniture designed by Illum Wikkelsø (1919-1999) are well known for their simple and elegant style, inspired by natural organic forms. Wikkelsø’s creations are also appraised because of their high degree of functionality.

The Danish designer contributed significantly to the success of Scandinavian modern design ideating simple and functional tools characterized by clean lines and soft waves that remind Danish landscapes. Ranking among the top Danish designers, he produced furniture for C.F. Christensen, N. Eilersen and Søren Willadsen Møbelfabrik.
