Premier German auction house Ketterer Kunst is especially famous with its star-studded modern art auctions that feature the best masters, particularly German. In their last auction,  they offer works by names like Joan MiróMax Ernst, Roy Lichtenstein and many more.

One of the most striking pieces on auction is the opening poster, one of the only 99 copies, Joan Miró made for the opening of the museum dedicated to his work in Barcelona. Joan Miró (20 April 1893 – 25 December 1983) was a Spanish/Catalan artist whose style evolved from Fauvism to Magical Realism and then, gaining international fame, to Surrealism and later on, Livres d’Artiste. Fundació Joan Miró, dedicated to his work, was opened in Barcelona in 1975 and still exhibits the childish mind and proud Catalan manifestation of Miró.

The auction features another opening poster by yet another famous artist, Roy Lichtenstein.

This piece features the typical comic book like style of the Pop Art genius Roy Lichtenstein (27 October 1923 – 29 September 1997). He was the pioneer of the new art movement in the 1960s Manhattan, along with names like Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and so on. His works mock the popular American advertisement and consumer culture with a striking aesthetic quality. His works sell for record numbers at auctions. Women with Flowered Hat, which was a mischievous take on a Picasso portrait, sold for $56.1 million at Christie’s in 2013 which was a record for the artist. This record was broken by his dramatic work “Nurse” when it sold for $95,365,000 in 2015.
