This week the bright red of this cute VW Crew Cab has caught our attention.

This VW T1 Crew Cab from 1966 was lovingly restored with a focus on special VW features such as the roof rack or the rare tilting windshields.

The official start of the commercial vehicle series, initially labeled ‘Type 29’ VW, was dated to the 8th March 1950. At this Wednesday the first three vans (with the car serial number 20-00010,14 and 25) leave the somewhat provisional Wolfsburg assembly line. Already in January the production started slowly – after the presentation of the four pre-series vehicles in November of the previous year. ‘With it the success continues’, it was said visionary more than 60 years ago. Nearly four hundred thousand front-guided and air-cooled ‘transporter for all occupations’ had at that time already (previously together with the VW Beetle in Wolfsburg, now at its own factory in Hanover) begun its triumphal march around the world and thus the legendary reputation of this probably unique versatile delivery van and travel car justified with the strange nickname ‘Bulli’.
